Truck Crashes into Cars at Grapevine Restaurant

Staff Writer

An 18-wheeler careened off the highway Tuesday afternoon, slamming into four parked cars at Romano’s Macaroni Grill in Grapevine.

The driver, J. Luna, 65, of Fort Worth, was still hospitalized, but his condition was unavailable Wednesday.

Police Sgt. Kim Smith said the investigation continues.

The wreck occurred about 4 p.m. May 13 when the man apparently passed out. His unloaded truck, traveling westbound on Texas 114, veered across lanes and the service road and struck the cars in the restaurant parking lot at 700 Texas 114, police said.

No criminal charges are expected to be filed against the truck driver, Smith said.

Two Grapevine officers, R.J. Hudson and Ryan Sayre, performed CPR on the driver until paramedics arrived, the sergeant said.

Earlier, two unidentified female restaurant patrons also performed CPR on the driver.
