Do You Have a Hat-a-tude?

Of course, it was the Kentucky Derby that was the main event. However, at this fundraiser it was hats as well as horses on the big "discussion" list that day. From the Classic to the Avant-garde, having the right "Hat-a-tude" at this event not only got you noticed by the other attendees, but also by the secret "Hat Judges" who were picking out three special winners who went home with bragging rights and a special bottle of wine. Making this year’s "hat" winners circle was, Kellie Tye in the Most Elegant Hat category; Mary Burnett in the Most Over the Top category; and Lizann Cundall in the Most Southern category.
The food was delicious and the bar well stocked: two very important aspects of any such event. The centerpieces, arranged by Carol Bice and donated by Keith Riewe also of Bice’s Florist, were quietly beautiful.
Whether your horse passed the finish line first or ended up further back in the "non-paying" part of the race, everyone at this event were defiantly wined and dined as if they were all first place winners.

All that was missing at this party was the fear that a school faculty member might find out and shut it down! The Mid-Cities Chamber of the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae threw a little Wine Tasting party at the home of the Patti and John Monger, and although these attendees are post-college (and face it, some were post, post, post…well you get the idea…), they decided to make it a bit more reminiscent of their old sorority days back in college.
Remember when attending each Greek function, along with the guarantee of a pounding headache the next morning, everyone received a T-shirt with the event name and date on it. Well, since everyone was bringing either a date or spouse to this party, just like they used to do, they T-shirts printed in black and gold — the organization’s colors — completed with event name and date, along with the phrase "Never too late-a…To Date a Theta." I heard that the party was a blast and that all kegs were removed before the kids got home!
